We have already recieved our first Dell/Opteron Workstations — I suppose some of our upper management must have signed an NDA — but I'm not bound by it.
These are 2.4 GHz Dual Core/2 CPU machines, 16 GByte — tricked out — and let me tell you they fly like lightning.
Our 3D Maya software, all 64-bit of course, runs 300 — 5-00% faster that our old 32 bit Dell/Intel-Xeon Boxes (2.8 GHz dualies).
Dell has a winner on its hands and no — it is not a SUN box.
This will shake up the Intel management like no earthquake can do.
